Use your time wisely. Learn how you can ignore distractions while you are
on the clock. You can also condense your efforts into sprints and then track
them using a timer if you find it hard to focus. The Pomodoro Technique is
an ideal system for this.
You can select a task, set your timer for a specific time frame, work for the
duration of that time frame without attending to distractions, have a short
break, get back to work, and have another break.
Some people think that not taking breaks makes one more productive.
However, they are wrong because you need to take short breaks to keep your
mind focused and fresh. During your break, you can relax and rest. Thus,
even if you work for less time, you will still be able to produce high quality
outputs. In fact, the quality of your work will turn out to be much better than
if you did not take a break.
With regards to blocking choices, you can go for whatever suits you best. For
example, you can go for five-minute breaks and 25-minute work schedules.
This adds up to half an hour blocks, which you can schedule throughout your
day.
Create A Done List
This is the opposite of a to-do list. A lot of people find to-do lists
demotivating if there are too many tasks listed. Hence, you should go for a
done list instead. On this list, you have to include the tasks that you have
successfully completed for the day so that you can be motivated to work on
another task the following day.
Each time you complete a task, you can reflect over it or take note of it. List
down every task you have completed, no matter how simple it seems. You
can use an application or write them on a piece of paper.
Select A Task To Outsource or
Delegate
If you want to boost your work performance, you have to make the most of
the time you use for accomplishing high-value tasks. For example, if you are
a salesman, you should make an effort to increase the number of your sales
calls. If you are a writer, you should do your best to produce more articles or
blog content. If you are a lawyer, you should have more billable hours.
The more time you spend on high-value tasks, the more money you can earn
and the higher your job rating can be. A simple way to allot more time for
important activities is to determine and delegate the ones that hinder your
work efficiency.
You can delegate tasks to your subordinates or hire people to do the job. To
find out which tasks you should delegate or outsource, you can create a list of
the activities and chores that you want to eliminate. Ask yourself if there are
other people who possess the knowledge and/or skill necessary to do the job.
If your answer is “yes,” then you must not hesitate to take the task off your
plate.
Automate Work
This elephant habit is ideal to form if your work is mostly done using a
computer. People who spend the majority of their time in front of computer
screens tend to waste time on small unimportant tasks. They often reason out
that these tasks only take a few minutes to do. However, if you add up those
“few minutes,” you will realize that you have wasted hours.
This is why you should automate small tasks and give yourself more time to
concentrate on more important tasks. Remember that it can take quite a long
time to have your life automated completely. You may have to wait for
weeks or months, but it will be all worth it when you are finally able to
increase your productivity.
Unsubscribe From Email Lists
Reading, answering, and sorting out emails can be time-consuming. Your
productivity level can go down if you waste time on junk mail. Even if you
delete your current emails, you will surely receive more. Thus, it is best if
you would just unsubscribe from your email lists. Only keep the emails that
are important enough for you to need copies of.
If you want to save more time, you should take advantage of the search bar in
your email management program. Gmail, Hotmail, and Outlook all feature a
search bar that you can use to enter a keyword and search for the messages
that contain this keyword.
Enter the word “unsubscribe” on the search bar and check out the resulting
messages. Chances are you do not need these emails. So, you should get them
off your email management program. Make it a habit to get rid of these
emails. Soon enough, you will see a dramatic improvement in your junk mail
situation.

Sadly, not all people love their jobs. Most of them only work to earn money
for food, rent, and bills. These people are not looking to raise their
productivity levels. Hence, they should research about side hustles, which
refer to part-time activities that can generate full-time income.
